For years our lodge has been taking donations to Rev. Lawson of the Church of Christ on Main Street in Dallas. He runs a large scale homeless outreach program that helps to feed and clothe people in need.
When we dropped two car loads of canned goods last week, Rev. Lawson told me that Sunday, December 22nd he will be preaching his last sermon before passing the torch to the new gentleman in charge. They will have a big party in the lot after the service (around noon) with a truckload of coats and blankets, food for all present, and police on duty.
We gave Rev. Lawson a community builder award in our Lodge a few years ago, but wanted to publicly commemorate him here also, for more than 30 YEARS of service to people of in need.
Thank you Reverend Lawson, for being a fine example of the type of good that we should strive to accomplish, in our short time on this Earth.
